Over 3,000 governors, trustees and local governors took part in this year's survey, providing a comprehensive overview of school and trust governance. As we present the 2024 survey findings, we find ourselves at a critical juncture in education.

This report highlights a sector under immense pressure, with budget shortfalls impacting everything from curriculum to staff wellbeing and provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This financial strain comes amidst rising demands, with schools increasingly acting as social safety nets for pupils and families.

Despite these challenges, the report commends the dedication and resilience of governing boards and school and trust leaders. Read the report to learn more about:

Survey methodology

The 海角社区 annual school and trust governance survey is the largest of its kind. It is a self-selecting, online survey that has been conducted by 海角社区 for 14 consecutive years.

The survey was disseminated predominantly through 海角社区鈥檚 communication channels and open from 15 April to 27 May 2024. Over 3,000 governors, trustees and local governors from state-funded schools in England took part. Respondents do not need to be members of 海角社区, but 80% reported that they are.
