鈥淢any trust leaders themselves have driven the call for a more transparent, ethical, and accountable approach to setting executive pay that doesn鈥檛 play into a race to the top, when the top is astronomically high. While every organisation is unique, making comparisons with executive pay structures in similar sized organisation, working in a similar context, can be achieved through this benchmarking tool. It will be incredibly helpful for the sector and alongside the increased and welcome guidance and scrutiny from the ESFA, it will continue to help the sector manage executive pay responsibly and demonstrate changing attitudes.鈥

Sharon O鈥橰yan, Founder and CEO of Pay in Education said:

鈥淧roviding affordable access to data comparisons which are tailored and relevant to the context of the individual school or trust is at the heart of PiE鈥檚 approach 鈥 we see a close correlation for example between executive salaries and trust size and pupil numbers so considering that contextual detail is imperative - only then can you be assured of benchmarking responsibly and making decisions which are appropriately underpinned, and stand up to scrutiny.鈥
